Bailey's Burberry

Burberry's resort collection has caught my eye and stolen my heart. For one, Christopher Bailey chose Anabela Belikova, a model with whom i fell in love when she did Nina Ricci's ads for Olivier's first collection with the house back in Fall 2007. Anyway, the clothes themselves are nothing short of exquisite and sort of define the mood and vibe i've been feeling for the past few months. That is: light colors, slouchy pants, t-shirts and tops that are neither baggy nor tight, but just the right amount of loose and super high casual heels. The sort of disheveled elegance that these looks convey are just purely unfussy and so up my alley. I feel as though Mr. Bailey's collections are often overlooked by fashionistas, blogs and even magazines, because everyone always raves about the work of, say, Mr. Ghesquière at Balenciaga or these days, more specifically, by Mr. Decarnin at Balmain (Balmainia, anyone?!). Granted, Burberry's collections are never groundbreaking (although Fall 08 was frickin gorgeous), but they always offer the right dose of cool, fancy, casual, elegant and a little bit rock 'n roll, sort of encompassing flawlessly every time the quintessential british girl spirit. Indeed, every collection Christopher Bailey has designed for Bureberry Prorsum has been simply perfect and i would actually wear every single piece from every single show. And for that, i put Burberry in my top coveted designer brands.
