Ballerinas forever

Totally inspired by the ever so lovely Sydney Girl and her amazing sketch about ballerinas (go look at her blog if you haven't already), i've myself compiled some images of the most gracious dancers and ballet inspired fashion. My mother was a ballerina and she always tried to make me take lessons when i was younger, but alas, to her great disappointment i never wanted to - i was a pure tomboy who hung out with only boys and i absolutely needed to uphold my reputation, go figure. Nevertheless, in my own private time i would secretly sneak into my mom's closet, dig through her black leather dance bag, slip on the leotard, pink leg warmers and point shoes... As i grew older and shifted my interests toward more feminine concerns, embracing the fact that i was a girl, i started to deeply regret never venturing in the dance world, seeing as dance was always something that i truly enjoyed watching - i used to beg to go to my friend's recitals, to go see the nutcracker come christmas time and my favorite movies are dance flicks and musicals (i know i'm very lame). To me, the fashion of Center Stage was outstanding; the fantasy that is associated to ballerinas and their flowy skirts, off the sholder oversized sweaters, nude leg warmers and sweet round toe flats resonates deeply with me. The color palette, the gracious bodies, the movements, the tight chignons, all of it makes me swoon. Some of my all-time favorite editorials feature ballet-inspired stories, filled with dainty feminine garb and images gorging with grace. With a lot of tough chick images we're seeing in fashion recently, i say this is a refreshing reference; there's nothing wrong with a little daintiness once in a while. All this to say, ballerinas will always be at the forefront of my inspiration.

Oh so chic

I once raved about how much i fancy men in hats and how much i love an older gentleman in a fetching topper. This photograph from the Sartorialist nearly made me fall off my chair! This guy is so chic, so put together, so well groomed, so suave looking, without an once of tack-attack. And it doesn't hurt that he's quite easy on the eyes!

Pretty P

Every time i see the H&M ads with Sasha it makes me smile. They bring me joy, for some reason. The photos have an aura of happiness and miss P's photogeticness (is that even a word?) kills me every time. She's gotta be one of my all-time favorites.

Major sigh

I had been waiting for these shoes to come out when i saw them on Mary Kate during fashion week last winter and finally they have been released - they were for the Fall line of E&J. I've pretty much been dreaming about these puppies since i spotted them, but with their 360$ USD price tag, they are sure not to make their way into my wardrobe, unfortunately. I envy all the lucky ladies that'll snatch them up.

Manic Monday i think not

An afternoon of frolicking outside for a rare appearance by the sun was well warranted after a weekend of work and rain. Picked myself up a little treat at French Connection and whipped out the cam for documentation, of course. (click to enlarge - again, of course!)

i'm wearing: gap top, no name shorts, vintage belt, calvin klein bra, marc jacobs tote, also shoes, no name sunnies

amelia is wearing: vintage dress, spring shoes, bag from random store, ray ban sunnies

Kate Jackson

This'll make you love Kate even more.

Sienna is officially back

Miss Miller had fallen off the style radar for quite some time, you know, after her 2005 boho phase fame. She went so down hill after the Jude Law years that i never thought she would recover her sartorial magic. Ladies (and gents?), the woman is B A C K!! Her outfits for the G.I. Joe movie tour have been outstanding. Here she is in Loewe looking like a vision of perfection - and expect more Sienna Miller on this blog in the near future, as i will surely scour the great world wide web for more of her impressive resurgence. The Rise of the Cobra? I don't think so! More like The Rise of the Sienna! Wow i'm so lame.

Shoes galore!

Today was spent - in spite of myself - on Polyvore, gathering the most exquisite footwear i could find. I'm so obsessed with shoes, it's really all can think about. Recently my infatuation has been with leopard print booties, which i convinced myself were absolutely mandatory to my Fall wardrobe. That and i've been on the hunt for the perfect pair of black pumps. So here's to all my time waistin' on the world wide web, always and forever for your viewing pleasure, of course!

In & Out

I really love this editorial with Noot, i think it's fantastic and she looks stunning, of course. But i love it even more cause i was the on set assisting the brilliant stylist! Photos scanned in by me. (Published in A magazine - in Italy - September 2008)
