Fashion Over Reason: Caped crusader

Caped crusader

I must apologize for the extremely poor quality of the photos. I've been experimenting with different options and i had no batteries left for my camera, which explains the macbook photo booth pictures. And i don't have a friend on hand to go improvise ourselves an outdoors photo shoot (especially in this -40 degree weather we're currently encountering). I suppose it wouldn't be so bad if the lighting was better, but how does that saying go - you make with what you have? I tried to illustrate as best i could the greatness of these leather shorts: one of the few fantastic treasures i found in a fabulous little vintage boutique in Paris (Seriously, the city of lights harbors so many.. it's extremely enviable). Come to think of it, that is also where i unearthed this showstopping piece of a cape. (Click here to learn more) It's one of my most prized possessions, at the risk of sounding shallow. Every day i count my lucky stars that i have it (i almost left it behind due to its price tag, silly me!), it instantly adds chic and flair to absolutely any outfit.

Top - J Crew
Leather shorts - Vintage
Belt - Marc Jacobs
Boots - Nine West
Cape - Vintage
Bag - Cowboys Bag

I love the shorts! I completely know what you mean, no one wants to take pics in this cold weather and frankly my sisters are sick of taking pics and make such a fuss when I ask them! I have had some low quality pics lately too :(

Hope you have a nice weekend!

I don't even know where to begin here lol!!

first of all the AD's: YES! those the same ones and we are TOTALLY on the same page!!! hahaha!!
Secondly, Carine's Alaïa's! of course: Alaïa! they ARE such an exquisite alternative to those bulky AD's. really there's no comparison.

OK and now this outfit!! omgod it's FANTASTIC on you! Those leather shorts are amazing on you! I really love this look but i don't think i can pull off the leather shorts look, i'm a little too curvy ;) and i find even on models they are not the most slimming cut lol! But honestly, you look amazing! this CAPE!!!!! OMGOD! i have SO been there...when you cant really afford something but you take the plunge anyways and figure it'll all work out and then months later you're SO GLAD you did!!! such a satisfying feeling :) I bought a cape at zara in late november that was Chloé SS10 inspired but i returned it cause it isn't really my style but this look was like made for you :) You look impeccable :) LOVESSSS!!!!

and improvising for pictures when you don't have a photographer! i know ALL about that lol!

Those shorts and the cape are incredible! I find Paris vintage to be very hit or miss (i.e. they're either overly trendy like Kiliwatch or very cool but hidden away). You might have to tell me where you found your gorgeous pieces ;-)

Oh my, the leather shorts are stunners and love your whole outfit. The colours are exactly what I would wear too. Fierce yet sober.
