Jungle Fever

I swear, this girl, she drowns me with envy.

Confession: i never shop at Mango. I never seem to find anything i like there. But these two different images from the spring look book and the summer look book are making me think twice... perhaps it's worth another gander.

Grunge Forever

Growing up as a 90s grunge aficionado, you can understand why i simply cannot get enough of its revival. This editorial is from the nov 2010 Elle Italia, but it stille feels relevant. Lindsay looks so perfect in these images and the styling by Carola Bianchi is spot on.

The Cabin

This weekend marks the first time of the season that we go up to our family's cabin up on Mohonk Mountain Preserve. It's a special place, and we spend a lot of time there in the summer. So excited to be back there, it's the perfect weekend getaway for some R&R, romance and relaxation - ha!

The last pic is the actual cottage!

The Latest

Zara is always such a sure bet, i can walk in there at any given moment and find a slew of pieces that will make me very excited. Here are the latest ones that made their way home with me.

1. Blazer without lapel
2. Studded fantasy fabric blazer
3. Printed top with grosgrain ribbon --> great poor man's alternative to this guy, wouldn't you say?

Flower Power

If this doesn't scream spring, i don't know what does. While my usual idea of a print is breton stripes, this season, i'm craving - as is everyone else - bolder options like bright florals and crazy patterns.

Craving this trend too? Here are a few contemplate-worthy pieces to achieve it:
Citizens of Humanity floral denim
J Crew print skirt
Mary Katrantzou dress
Tibi fern print dress (the one in the pic above)
Milly dress
Preen dress
Givenchy birds of paradise blazer
SUNO blazer
Camilla & Marc botanical blazer

Summer Sunshine

It feels like the middle of July here in nyc and it's seriously fantastic. So excited for the summer! These photos are giving off such a great warm-weather vibe - halfway between Miami Sound Machine and rich Beverly Hills lady.

PS Thank you to everyone for the warm and kind wishes on my wedding, love you guys!

Honest Woman

You guys! Today is my wedding day gaaaaahh! I came to New York last summer to change my life forever and boy, fate certainly did not disappoint. I found the love of my life and i'm the happiest girl in the world. End of cheesy self-revelations. I should post a pic of me in my dress at some point!

Chasing Waterfalls

This 90s-inspired editorial is so infectious and full of energy, i can't help but smile when i look at it - Anais Pouliot does In Living Color. It also looks like she's probably holding a Walkman rather than an ipod. Those were the days...

Vanity Space

I've been getting some emails about showing more of my personal space and asking what my beauty must-haves are, so i figured i should show you my jewelry area and some of the products i can't live without. Taking a cue from my girl Stephanie, who always presents beautiful pics of her stuff, i went ahead and took a few detailed photos, giving a pretty accurate idea of what i use and what my corner looks like.

I'm not exactly the type who is big on accessories and jewelry, but it appears that i've got a lot - though i'm sure my collection pales in comparison to most bloggers. This area only holds what i wear most often - i have another box of stuff hidden in the closet. But anyway, the large majority of it all is vintage and things i've inherited from family over the years, or gifts. I rarely buy anything for myself, simply because i'd much rather spend my money on a pair of shoes and because when it's a gift or an heirloom it feels way more special.

Roughly, here are the products pictured:

Vichy Aqualia Thermal cream. I love all of the products from that line - i also use the mask, the AntiOx for my terrible, terrible under eye circles and their sunscreen in 60 (no one wants a leather face). | Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax hand cream - i strangely love the smell of this and it works without making your hands feel greasy, a must during the winter.

Clarins eye quartet in Gold Attraction (similar palette here) - the color i use the most in this little box is the gold. It looks so pretty just dusted in the creases of the eyes and also smeared onto the lower lash line. I also use it as highlighter over my cheekbones occasionally. Who doesn't sometimes long for a golden glow?

Lipsticks, from left to right: Benefit in Pillow Talk (similar color here) - it's a great rosy shade that goes on sheer and stains your lips ever so slightly, very pretty | NARS in Fast Ride - this is the ideal lip color if you want that Proenza-style wine stain | Chanel lipshine in Galapagos, from the Holiday 2009 collection - perfect for subtle baby pink sheen on the pout | MAC in Lady Danger - the most greatest matte pigmented coral red you'll ever see | Rimmel London in In Vogue - the brightest fuchsia you've ever seen, it also has a little bit of sheen in it, which is very sexy (similar to this)

NARS duo eyeshadow compact in Silk Road - i love dusting these soft colors on my lids, but i also sometimes brush it on over my cheekbones for subtle and pretty highlighting. I also smudge a little bit on my lips with my finger and then finish off with just regular clear chapstick for a sultry nude lip. Ain't nothing like making your makeup multitask! | MAC So Sweet, So Easy cream blush. I used to just wear MAC Amplified lipstick (similar to Impassioned) on my cheeks until i ran out and decided to go for this shade of cream blush. It gives a great youthful, rosy glow and i love the cream texture for a dewy appearance.

Dove Style+Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo - i'm a dry-shampoo hoarder (thank you Stephanie, for introducing me to the product a few years ago); i can't live without it and i'm always on the hunt for new ones to try. The Dove one is by far the best smelling one i've ever tried! An while my usual go-to is the gentle Klorane, i also really enjoy Batiste products
. I rarely wash my hair (once, sometimes twice a week) so i rely on the dry stuff to tie me over, but sometimes i just use it for texture and volume - i love what it does to my otherwise limp, straight hair. Since these pics have been taken, i've already move on to the Not Your Mother's product, which is also pretty good. If you have any dry shamp recs, send them my way!

Chrisitan Dior J'Adore Eau de toilette (in the box) and Eau de parfum (out of the box) - the Eau de parfum is my "signature scent" if you will. I've been wearing it for 10 years and anyone who knows me well will tell you that smell reminds them of me. During the summer, i just love to forgo the perfume and lather on their body milk - it's so fresh, it feels great and it smells divine | Jean Paul Gaultier Le Mâle Eau de parfum - i love this men's scent so much that i've adopted it for myself and i must say, it smells amazing on me | Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey cologne - this scent is light and fruity, low-maintenace and perfect for a super hot summer day | Joe Malone Orange Blossom Cologne - this scent reminds me of lilac in bloom, it's seriously such an olfactory treat and it goes on strong with a subtle finish | Burberry Brit Eau de toilette - this musky smell is sense-awakening and i love to spritz it on when i wear vintage clothes, i don't know why but i always think it goes perfect with retro stuff.

The perfume i wear on any given day is highly dependent on my attire. If i'm wearing something super feminine, i like to offset that with a masculine, musky scent, or even go full-fledged woman and spritz on Dior. It really depends.

There you have it, hope you've enjoyed my breakdown!

Happy Easter!

Or should i just say happy long weekend, cause you may not celebrate Easter depending on who/what you worship. Whatever, this was a great representative pic that felt very festive, spring-like and eastery.

Such a pretty pic that illustrates perfectly this spring's ladylike sensibility. I love a good duo in a fashion pic.

Look Into My Eyes

Look at that face, flawless.

Hear Me Roar

Who wouldn't love the revival of the roaring twenties? The Great Gatsby era, the amazing subject that was the star of Woody Allen's fantastic summer hit, Midnight in Paris (seriously, i'm not even usually a fan of his and i fell head over heels for this flick); it's all so pretty, chic and oh-so-nostalgic. And besides Karl Lagerfeld, who doesn't love nostalgia?

Moc, Yeah

The generous people over at Manitobah, an amazing heritage Canadian label (the people behind the infamous mukluks), sent me a super cute pair of moccasins a few months ago and due to unforeseen circumstances, i am only able to finally post about them now. So let's get on with it! It's probably better that way anyway cause this is actually the time of year that you'd be wanting to wear these, the weather being transitional and mild enough to stop wearing boots, but not yet warm enough for open-toed footwear.

As a Canadian girl, moccasins are kind of a rite of passage. I can't even count on one hand the amount of pairs i've gone through in the last 10 years (ouch, that makes me feel old). I've had them in every color, in every height and in every style. The ones that have been gifted to me just serve as a reminder of how much of staple these shoes are. They're so comfy, have become a true classic and are ideal for running around on weekends without looking sloppy. I can't stress how much mocs are a must-have.

But what's great about Manitobah is their ability to evolve while remaining true to the brand essence. They recently partnered with this company called Vibram to develop these great fancy, grippy soles so that you don't feel like you're walking around in slippers, the whole point being able to cater to the urban market. I do find really commending that they're still collaborating with with elders and artists in Aboriginal communities to create unique, one of a kind mocs. Read about it here. Everything is made in Canada and has been since their humble beginnings, and, well, since the natives have worn them, really. Can't say enough good things! On my feet are Harvester suede moccasins in charcoal.

Karlie Baby

Ain't nothing like leather, denim and wine-stained lips to look oh-so fabulous. Oh, and a giant Chanel bag never hurts either. Exibit A: Karlie Kloss.

Leather Shorts

I can't even begin to express my desire for these shorts. They fit like a glove, are SO comfy (i tried them on and they fit true to size, in case you're contemplating them as well), would be the perfect wardrobe staple and are an all-around solid investment. I already have a pair of leather shorts, but they are high-waisted and a lot more difficult to wear - and they are definitely not that flattering, unlike these ones. They are definitely one of my next purchases.
