Some more amazing resort 2014 collections coming at you. I gotta say, i'm kind of really into the Altuzarra collection. It feels like he had one person in mind when he was designing it: Carine Roitfeld. Don't you think? I also love the Wang looks. He continues his great evolution while never losing that insane natural instinct he has to create pieces that ignite an indescribable and uncontrollable urge to buy in his legions of fans. And last shoutout: super excited about Acne bring Natasa Vojnovic back to model their collection! Below, in order of appearance: Acne, Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Altuzarra & Mary Katrantzou.
Thought i'd share some photos from last weekend's trip to the nation's capital with you guys. Washington DC was so much fun and really beautiful. It started out kind of rough with horrendous friday afternoon nyc traffic, but was smooth sailing after we were able to get through it! We played the game of major tourists since i had never been, taking it to the next level with one of those hop-on hop-off double decker bus tours, which turned out to be the perfect way to hit all the staple sites. Plus the weather got the memo: it was warm, dry and sunny. Couldn't have asked for anything better.
There is one particular thing in life that eludes me to great lengths: why people equate "comfortable" clothes with looking completely schleppy and sloppy. This is the reason why airports are filled with people in offensive velour track suits, or Lululemon yoga pants paired with old college hoodies and Ugg boots. WHY?!?? Certainly these people have more public-appropriate attire that are equally comfortable? Why is it that people automatically reach for garments that should never be worn outside one's home when taking a journey? Do people suddenly think they get a free pass because they'll be sitting for X amount of hours? Unless you're flying to the land of Oz (in which case, they acutally give you pjs to change into), there is no justifiable reason for any mortal to think that comfort should be akin to careless. Are your every day clothes that painful to don? Do jeans or dresses physically hurt? The answer, as we know it, is a big fat NO (unless your dresses come equipped with a corset, but i highly doubt it). So there are no excuses to not look as put together for your travels as you would on any other given day. The whole point of this rant was actually to showcase the getup below i wore for last week's trek to DC. Next time you hit the road or the airport, just think twice before you reach for those sweatpants you deem "acceptable" and comfortable. You'll see, you'll feel infinitely better if you've got even just slight sartorial composure and you'll wonder why you ever thought yoga pants were not completely cringe-worthy outside of the yoga studio.
Hi all! Hope you guys had a great weekend. Mine was pretty awesome: we attended a wedding in the beautiful Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York and it was real good times, to say the least. If you follow me on my other social media platforms, than you've already had a taste of what my first official weekend of summer was like. Did you guys do anything special?
Let's start the week off with another installment of the Resort 2014 collections (see also Part I & Part II). Moving along today with 3.1 Phillip Lim -- always a favorite -- Theyskens' Theory -- always a good crowd-pleaser -- Tibi -- nails it every time -- and Burberry, simply great season after season.
Even when summer hits, there are still the occasional days that are more chilly than one could care for, but it can allow for a good break from skimpy tanks and cutoffs. Exhibit A: leather shorts. Leather is just way too hot for the scorching July heat, but when it cools down at nighttime or if it's a particularly breezy, cloudy day, then it can be the prefect style antidote. Although it wasn't summer yet, that's what happened a couple of weeks ago with the outfit you see yonder. The skies were grey without showing any signs of potential clouds bursting into rain, complete with soft winds and a dash of humidity. Leather shorts were my solution, but to avoid over heating, i grabbed a sheer knit that feels like nothing short of a veil. I also decided to throw my hair in a french braid to avoid helmet hair, since i was going on a long bike ride. Final result: a tomboy look that with a girlie finish!
We had Part I a couple of days ago and we're moving on today with Chloé, Reed Krakoff, Valentino, The Row and A.L.C. (in order of appearance). I'm really into the introduction of denim pants in the Valentino collection. It's a shape we haven't seen in a long time and it feels very fresh. Can't wait to see where they go with it in future offerings. Also need to make a shoutout to A.L.C. -- i thought her collection was spot-on and pretty much everything i want to wear. Thoughts?
This outfit is from a couple of weeks ago and was worn to attend Tasting Table's annual Lobster Rumble. Lobster rolls are probably in my top 3 favorite foods of all time, so i was VERY excited about this. Anyway, i was in the mood to go real basic with my attire. If you're a long-term reader of this blog (thank you!) then you know that i'm all about simplicity and unfussiness, and if you're a new reader (welcome!) you've now just learnt this. So i basically threw on a plain white tee, some super comfy green silk pants and simple black pointy pumps. That was it and it was the most comfy thing ever to go scarf down the equivalent of my weight in lobster. YUM.
I admittedly had not really been keeping up with the resort presentations (or pre-spring, depending on who you ask) -- until now, that is. I've finally caught up on my favorites and of course, i want to share them with you. Here's the first installment of my Resort 2014 season standouts. Some of the trends i've observed are: tons of bermuda shorts, oversized garments, pleated skirts, lots of monochromatic white looks, clean lines and solid colors. Let's begin with: Michael Kors, Rag & Bone, Stella McCartney, Jenni Kayne and Balenciaga (in order of appearance). Have you been keeping up? Do you have any favorites?

PS I just need to mention something: i realized that yesterday marked the 6th anniversary of my first-ever post on this blog! It's hard to believe that i started Fashion Over Reason six years ago and love it more every day. This blog has been my premiere accomplice through so many life transitions and i couldn't be happier to be completely dedicated to it today. Never thought in a million years that would happen.
